Parking an issue for Faire
For the seventh consecutive year the Medieval Faire will be held at the old rodeo grounds on 7th Street, however, visitors may have a longer walk to reach the site. City staff will present options to city council to address the parking congestion on 7th Street that is caused by faire-goers in August. Lisa Tiffin, manager of shared services, said once the changes are decided they will become part of special event permit.

Lady Buffalos earn second place finish
Brooks Composite High Lady Buffalos came away with a second place finish at their home Prairie Classic basketball tournament this past weekend. The Lady Buffalos opened play with a 56-45 win over the St. Joseph’s Crusaders Friday afternoon. St. Joseph’s led the contest for the first half but the Lady Buffalos chipped away at the lead and held a 35-28 cushion at the end of three quarters. Beating St. Joseph’s had everyone on the team happy considering the Lady Buffalos have not been able to beat them for a while, said coach Michael Heninger.

BJHS duo is doing their part to feed the hungry
The clothing apparel business is booming for Brooks Junior High grade nine students Alonso Tapia and Nolan Cunningham. The two started 1M One Meal Apparel 13 months ago as a way of feeding kids around the world. For every piece of apparel purchased from their business, 1m donates two meals with one going to Kamembe, Rwanda and the other being local. The duo has provided 3,200 meals in 13 months. When they first started, their goal was to provide 200 meals a year.
