Firefighters kept busy this past week in Brooks
The Brooks fire department has responded to three fires since May 9 which were all relatively serious. On May 11 at about 6:50 p.m. Brooks firefighters responded to a garage fire in a back alley along 10th Street West. Deputy fire chief Stewart Luchies said it appears the fire started on a workbench where some equipment had been placed but doesn’t believe the cause of the fire will be determined.

Residents rally behind Fort Mac
Hundreds of people gathered at the Centennial Regional Arena Saturday for the Giving Back To Fort Mac 12 hour fundraiser for evacuees. The fundraiser included entertainment both outside and inside of the arena, a barbecue and silent auction.

Buffalos fall short in tournament play
Brooks Composite High Buffalos ended up placing second at their six team Riley Martin Memorial baseball tournament this past weekend. The Buffalos got off to a great start in the second annual Riley Martin Memorial baseball tournament, pounding the Highwood High Mustangs 18-2 Brooks surrendered the only two Highwood runs scored in the first inning before scoring 11 times in the bottom half.
