Two men injured in rollover on highway
Tilley firefighters extricated an 18-year-old Brooks man who was a passenger in a Chevy Silverado following a rollover on Highway 1 near the Tilley Rest Stop at about 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. The man, who is not being identified, was transported from the scene with serious injuries by HALO medivac helicopter rescue to Bassano and then to Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance. Members of the public stopped and extricated the 21-year-old Medicine Hat driver from the vehicle prior to emergency service’s arrival.

Local fencer ranked # two in Canada
Canada’s number two cadet 17& under fencer is looking forward to returning to the sport next season following an injury. The season was progressing smoothly for Ellie Harper when she sustained an avulsion fracture in her left ankle while competing at the Western Canadian Fencing Championship in Richmond, B.C. last month.

Welcome to the Canadian family!
Canadian Kola Ayeni called the day a milestone. Ayeni, wife Edna and daughter Tolu were three of 100 permanent residents to become Canadian citizens at a ceremony held at the the Lakeside Leisure Centre Friday. New Canadians were welcomed into the fold after taking the citizenship oath at a swearing in ceremony which was attended by more than 200 people.
