Armed robbery
Douglas Delgatty, 37, of Brooks has been charged with 11 counts in relation to an armed robbery at the Brooks Liquor Store on Saturday. At about 5:40 p.m. police received a call that a male entered the location, used a firearm to rob the business and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Thirty-five minutes later he was located in the Walmart parking lot and taken into custody. He was still in possession of the firearm and the majority of the money.

Quadders take on NDP decision
Alberta’s off-highway vehicle enthusiasts are upset by the province’s decision to close Castle Wildland Provincial Park to off-highway vehicles (OHV) but the government has been undeterred. “Our government committed to Albertans to strengthen protection of the Castle area,” said Premier Rachel Notley during the Castle announcement in mid-January. Notley announced the Castle Wildland Provincial Park and the new Castle Provincial Park which will preserve 103,000 hectares of mountains and foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Coach impressed with Christ The King players
Christ The King Royals intermediate boys basketball team continues to impress coaches Sheila Hirch and Margaret Krueger. “They are the most hard working, respectful and keen players that I have ever coached before,” said Hirch who is the team’s head coach. The team consists of mainly players from the Philippines but there are also a couple of Colombians and one Alberta boy. This year’s squad consists of Joseph Galeski, Mark Gubalane, Rico Lagutan, Javier Santos, Kyle Autencio, Carlo Hefervez, James Fernandez, Justin Ruando, Nataniel Quetula, Bryan Ducusin, Jan Zederick, AJ Portes, Alejandro Caicedo and Francis Beltran.
